Legends Dinner- Brian Blessed
Wednesday 20th February 2019
On February 20th it is our great pleasure to invite one of the greatest thespians and adventurers we know to join us for an evening of great wine, great food, and great stories: truly one of the greatest raconteurs of them all, Brian Blessed, OBE!
The ex-RAF man was a boxer in his youth who sparred with the Dalai Lama, holds a 3rd Dan in Judo, has attempted to climb Everest 3 times without the aid of oxygen (and he got close 28,200 ft, just 829 ft from the top), conquered Kilimanjaro and is the oldest man ever to walk to the North Magnetic Pole. He’s trekked the Amazon, survived a plane crash in Venezuela, completed some space training at Star City in Russia, and once delivered a baby while out running in Richmond Park and bit through the umbilical cord with his teeth.
His countless stage and screen appearances range from Augustus in I,Claudius to Blackadder by way of Flash Gordon, Z Cars and many memorable Shakespearean turns. He had to turn down becoming the second Dr Who (too busy!), was Robin Hood’s (Kevin Costner’s) dad in the hugely successful movie and padded the stage in Cats, and not forgetting countless TV and panel shows, sports commentary, voiceovers and the rest. Larger than life in every sense of the word, he truly is a Truants Legend.
There will also be the opportunity for questions from the floor, a raffle, a unique auction and an excellent 3 course meal designed for the occasion.
All funds will go towards the Truants Vietnam 2020 Charity Challenge benefitting Nordoff Robins, Teenage Cancer Trust and ChildLine – the ONLY cost being the price of the dinner and initial wine and service. To date the Truants have raised over £3 million for these Children’s Charities.
Tickets are £175 each (£225 top table) which includes all food and half a bottle of wine.
